“It’s tempting to say that Honey Radar’s new tape, Chain Smoking on Easter, is the proper long-player to complement last year’s brief Mary Plum Musket. In many ways that’s true: several of the songs — like “Circuit in the Sunlight” and “Birds Reunion” — feature Musket’s four-track hiss and one-off choruses, yet seemed penned with thoughts of a band and audience. At the same time, bandleader/project-orchestrator/all-around-nice-guy Jason Henn explores more of the space that a 16-track recording allows, offering collages of glimmery 60s pop alongside blown-out noise.” – KMK
