“Drowned” is a collection of spectral, downtempo jungle reverberations from NYC-based artist Riley, who East Coast underground types may also know from the intense tape-machine and feedback noise project Neuter. Originally recorded 2016-2018 and excavated in 2021, these contemplative, nocturnal tracks are haunting and lovely, with an uneasy air wafting throughout (see the distended horns of ‘Boys Club 4’ for a fine example of the latter). Subterranean bass and concrète collide, crack and snap. The club is jacked.
