“A late addition to Earthquake Glue, “My Kind of Soldier” was recorded at Steve Albini’s Chicago studio on April 10, 2003, on a day off touring. Though it was intended as the album’s final track, the band’s label Matador inserted it at the beginning of the album for technical reasons, as the test pressings of the album were already done and the record was in production. It was first given release in July 2003 as a 7″ single, preceding the release of Earthquake Glue by a few weeks. Its b-side was “Broken Brothers”.”
