Refuges d’Art* is a hiking route spanning roughly ten days, conceived by Andy Goldsworthy in the Digne region, within the protected territory of the Haute-Provence Geological Reserve. Connecting three dry-stone “Sentinels” created by the Scottish artist across three valleys, the 150 km mountain trail follows ancient paths and crosses the traces of a once-vibrant agricultural life. Andy Goldsworthy’s project involved renovating certain ruined structures—such as a chapel, farmhouses, and sheepfolds—to provide shelter for hikers, while creating a unique, permanent artwork within each *Refuge d’Art*. Since 1999, with the support of the Gassendi Museum and the Haute-Provence Geological Reserve, six refuges have been completed. Others will follow, uniquely combining contemporary art with the preservation of rural heritage.

*This came from a former professor’s collection, who used low-tack post-it notes to bookmark/annotate his books. Most of them have been removed, however it is possible that a stray few were overlooked. If this is the case, they are both unobtrusive and easily removable. Additionally, there may be annotations. In most, however not all cases, they are solely in the introduction/foreword. Any clarifying questions should be emailed to tornlight@gmail.com*
