It feels as though words like ‘fragile’, ‘musical’, and ‘contemplative’ are often not used to describe the found sounds in the realms of many recordings of experimental tape music. Yet, here we find that Ohio’s ever talented, prolific, and classically trained Nick Keeling, using only piano and an intricate setup of tape loop delay, has crafted something powerfully tender, cerebral, and highly musical – Seamlessly and gracefully flowing between gorgeous piano lines to washed out and blurred echoes of the original melodic content.
